Creuse in the Limousin (Nouvelle-Aquitaine region) is the green heart of France and also the least populated department. It is one of the most untouched, picturesque regions of France, the perfect place for relaxing and recharging your batteries. Creuse boasts stunning, wild landscapes, lakes and magnificent forests crossed by cycling and hiking trails. It is also full of rich architectural and artistic heritage in the shape of interesting towns, Romanesque buildings, plenty of charming chateaux and the famous Aubusson tapestry. It will delight lovers of nature, relaxation and authenticity.
There are numerous lakes where, for a small daily licence fee, you can while away the hours fishing. Many of the larger lakes also have man-made beaches, some with lifeguard supervision, where you can swim, kayak, zip wire, paddle board and much more. Alternatively, you can simply relax and enjoy the sunshine!
The area offers a large choice of things to do locally that are suitable for all ages. Pictured and described below are just a few things La Creuse has to offer near our holiday home and a couple that are further afield (all within 90 minutes).
